Start Here: Small Habits, Big Health
Smart, science-backed health info you can actually use—quick reads with long-term impact.
Most health advice is either too fluffy or too clinical.
I’m here to give you something better: smart, science-backed habits and info you can actually use—quick reads with long-term impact.
I’m a PhD researcher, award-winning scientist (yes, I have an Olympic medal for research), best-selling author, and mom. For over 30 years, I’ve worked at the intersection of science and real life—running a research lab, publishing 110+ peer-reviewed studies, consulting with wellness brands, and helping people feel better through habits that stick.
Most people don’t have time to read scientific papers—or know which ones to trust. But I do. I do the research so you don’t have to. No lab coat required.
I keep my posts short. No fluff. No fads. Just clear, credible insights to help you feel better, think sharper, and age stronger.
But I’m not always in the lab.
I also spend a lot of time off the grid hiking in National Parks—testing what science says about healthy aging.
That mix of lab and landscape is where the magic happens.
Health isn’t just something we chase. It’s something we create—one small, smart habit at a time.

Why Subscribe?
In a world full of influencers and algorithms, I offer something different.
I’m a PhD researcher with 30 years of experience, not a 25-year-old influencer guessing about aging. I’ve lived this work—and lived long enough to know what matters.
My posts are short. My standards are high. My goal is to help you move more, think clearer, and feel stronger—whether you’re on the trail, at your desk, or just trying to make it through your week with energy left over.
You want to feel better—but don’t have time to dig through the research or follow 10-step morning routines. That’s where I come in. I cut through the noise and deliver what works: small, doable, science-backed habits.
Whether you’re walking your neighborhood, logging miles on a treadmill, or hiking in the wild, my mission is the same: to help you age strong and live vibrantly.
My main newsletter is free—because I believe science should be accessible to everyone, not gated.

About Me
I’ve spent three decades immersed in health science—researching, teaching, and translating what I learn into tools people can use.
Ran a research lab at a top-tier institute.
Received NIH funding.
Consulted for health companies.
Given thousands of lectures.
Published 110+ peer-reviewed studies.
Written best-selling wellness books and journals.
Featured in People, Vogue, Women’s Health, O The Oprah Magazine, SELF, SHAPE, and more.
When I’m not walking our dog, cooking with real ingredients, watching our sons play sports, playing pickleball, or exercising outdoors with friends, I’m deep into wellness research.
I’m a health and science nut—it’s my career, my hobby, and my passion.
I live in Jacksonville, Florida with my husband, three boys, and our dog; but I’m originally from Northern Ontario, Canada—so yes, I can handle the cold.
I don’t have all the answers—no one does. But I ask better questions, find better data, and translate it into practical tools so you can age with strength and confidence.
The Bottom Line
This Substack is for people who want real health, grounded in science—and maybe a little dirt under their boots.
No hype. No extremes.
